
Kirti Sinha
Welcome to my webpage! I am currently an assistant professor of accounting at Naveen Jindal School of Management at University of Texas at Dallas.
I graduated with a PhD in accounting from Kellogg School of Management in June 2019. I hold a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. Prior to the PhD program, I worked with GE Capital as a Credit Risk Manager in India and China. I started with the prestigious Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) and, most recently served as a Senior Manager for Corporate Financial Services (CFS) Risk vertical.
In my spare time, I enjoy skeet/trap shooting, swimming, and watching tennis.

How do banks use firms’ information disclosures to guide their lending decisions? Do accounting standards influence bank lending and, in turn, impact the real economy?

Does social media provide additional insights to financial markets? Are there tangible impacts of social media on the economy?
Machine Learning/AI
How can machine learning and AI be leveraged to enhance our understanding of information, whether it comes from social media or corporate disclosures?

Fracking Disclosure, Collateral Value, and the Mortgage Market
The Accounting Review (2022) 97 (5): 427–454.
The paper examines the real impact of oil and gas companies’ disclosures about fracking chemicals on mortgage terms through their influence on housing collateral.

Real Effects of Lagged Guidance from Prudential Regulators on CECL
R&R at Journal of Accounting and Economics
This paper investigates the adverse real effects of delayed regulatory guidance during the implementation of the CECL accounting standard, showing that banks tightened loan terms and reduced lending during the lag period.
